Kashmir Cause

Kashmir is a state full of natural beauty and situated in the north of Pakistan and about 55% of it is occupied by India and remaining is occupied by Pakistan and China. Kashmir issue started even before the partition of the Sub-continent in 1930. British government sold Kashmir to Gulab Singh in 1846. In 1930, the Muslims of Kashmir started their struggle to get freedom from Maharajah but failed. At the time of partition, it was clearly said by British government that princely states could join any of the two countries or they could also remain independent. About 80% population of Kashmir was Muslim at the time of partition. The majority of people of Kashmir wanted to join Pakistan so that they could live according to their religion without any restrictions. In 1947, many leaders of the Indian National Congress visited Kashmir and many conferences held with Maharajah and prime minister of Kashmir and forced them to join Kashmir with India. All India Muslim League leaders, specially Quaid-i-Azam also wanted to visit Kashmir but Mountbatten managed to dissuade him from undertaking such a trip. During the accession of Junagarh and Hyderabad, the Indian government wanted plebiscite so that only people of the state could decide their fate but in the case of Kashmir, the Indian government only wanted an affiliation from Maharajah.
Maharajah started a systematic massacre of the Muslims to suppress their voice. Thousands of Muslims were killed within a few weeks. It was home of many demobilized British soldiers who had fought for the British. They started resistance against Maharajah and declared the establishment of the Azad Kashmir Government. Many soldiers left the troops of Maharajah and joined the troops of Azad Kashmir. When the war was at its peak many people from Azad Kashmir went to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and bought arms. People of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa proclaimed the Holy war and moved towards the capital of Kashmir rapidly. Had they not been distracted by plunder, they could have taken over the capital.
Maharajah requested Indian government for help but they demanded the accession of Kashmir with India. Maharajah accepted the demand of India and acceded with India, Indian sent their troops to Srinagar. Indian troops moved so fast to the Kashmir that it seemed to be pre-planned. On January 5, 1948 India took Kashmir issue in the UN (United Nations) security council. The security council listened to both parties and passed two resolutions and ordered both countries to demilitarized the Kashmir and organized a plebiscite to give right to the people of Kashmir to decide their fate. Pakistan accepted the order of UN security council and agreed for plebiscite. India did not call back its troops and captured Kashmir by fraud. India also used different accuses in order to avoid plebiscite.
Pakistan and India had fought three major wars and many other conflicted on the problem of Kashmir. Here the question arises that which thing created the Kashmir issue. At the time of partition, according to boundary commission, Gurdaspur was part of Pakistan. Gurdaspur was the only way to Kashmir from the India side. At the time of the announcement of the Red Cliff award, Gurdaspur was added to the Indian because Mountbatten forced him to do so which Red Cliff himself confirmed in his interview. Kashmir is the cause of insecureness in the whole world, especially in Asia. It is the conclusion of different wars, wars are not the solution to any problem. So, the Kashmir issue must be solved according to the resolution of the security council. If somehow this issue is resolved, Sub-continent will become the land of peace and prosperity.
