Transparency international is non-profit international organization based in Berlin, Germany. it was started in 1993 and soon it became an international organization. Its basic aim to eradicate corruption from the world. Transparency International publish its report about corruption and categorized all countries of the world on the basis of corruption index. Its first report about corruption was published in 1995. This organization is also member of UNESCO consultative Status and United Nation Global Compact. It not only categorized countries according to corruption index but also advised different measurements in order to counter with corruption. Transparency International report about corruption is taken as reference throughout the world.
Corruption Perception Index(CPI) of Transparency International 2019 published in January 2020. This report is based on illegal use of power in public sector. This report categorized 180 countries on the scale from 100-0. Country which has the least numbers, the most corrupt is the country. According to this report, corruption increases almost in every country. Even developed countries faced problems to counter with corruption.
Somalia is ranked as the most corrupt country with 9 numbers in CPI. Whereas Denmark, New Zealand and Finland are least corrupt countries respectively in the world. According to this report developed countries e.g America, England, France etc gained less numbers as compare to previous years. Malaysia gained 6 more numbers as compare to previous year and ranked at 51 among 180 countries. Countries of Sub-Continent also gained less numbers as compare to previous years.
This report also discussed the reasons of corruption and advised different measurements to counter with corruption which will be discussed later.
